    THANK YOU, all you wonderful, informed and generous people , for going to all this trouble to try to stiop our children's lives being a living hell and for trying to save Britain;'s wildlife from extinction. It's so sad that the oil Industry has paid so many bots or Trolls to hurl abuse at the most informed and caring people of our community,... but - that's what the Oil Industry does. Just as it sponsors wars to obtain that oil. PLease ask your fave paper or TV News why they have ignored the people of Britain trying to save the future of this country and have, instead, done ANOTHER report on a millionaire ex-commodities broker laughing at the public whilst pretending to drink a glass of beer in Clacton.

    I have been tearing up Balsam wherever I see it. Last year there were no noticeable balsam patches around my local park pathways, this year there are patches of it as large as entire fields. I've been tearing 50+ of them up each time I walk past and only just starting to make a small dent in the overall volume. Will clear it all in the next couple weeks to keep myself active but can definitely notice the overall barrenness of the spaces left behind where this awful plant has invaded.

    The pond needs to be big enough to support small fish that eat mosquito larvae. Otherwise, in the summer months, your "pond" will be just a mosquitoe breeding facility. Not good.

    Totally agree, ditch the tumble dryer and replace with a dehumidifyer, I also agree with making space for wildlife in your gardens. I have only got a tiny garden but still made room for a frog pond albeit a micro one.

    Do you think planting a few plants in planters is going to fix The NHS solve nurse doctors or return services that has been stopped by Grahams Government we could do with some NHS Dentists instead of knocking down The Brexit Plaque on The Cross letting in more illegal immigrants for cheap labour whilst all the creme cheese of Him and His Party sits in their castles raking in parking fines and parking charges for their own self vested financial interests. You can trust The Tories after they wrecked Brexit for their own ideals

      Fun fact: that is actually the way it spread to the UK by a farmer who tried to grow them as a crop in a controlled environment but as it seeds spreads and grows very easily and quickly it spread all of and into the wilds and so from there it spread all over the uk

    I heard from a reputable foraging expert that this plant is perhaps not as bad as it is believed, because it cleans soil affected by damaging farming practices, then retreats, allowing native species to return. Personally I find this difficult to believe, given how much this species seems to be spreading. Is there any truth to this alternative perspective?

    • @robworrall6832
      @robworrall6832 Місяць тому

      I heard that their seeds can stay viable for a long time so if they had shot loads of seeds out already, then surely they would return? I reckon the frost would wipe the plants out but the seeds would be there waiting for Spring? I'm no expert but I grow other Impatiens plants at home. Their seeds need light to germinate so I'm wonder if covering the areas where they have grown with a few inches of soil would stop them from coming back and allow native plants to re-establish with a helping hand?

    Good video, thanks. I am a bit uncertain about your local vending operation from an environmental standpoint. All those car trips just to pick up a pint of milk and the fancy vending machinery must have cost a few tons of emissions to produce, If your vending point was situated in Stow (for example) that might have been a more responsible solution possibly?

      Arguably this kind of tutorial does more harm than good. Some wildlife may be temporarily supported by the presence of water but long term this "pond" is not suitable. The rigid plastic container will crack in the winter under ice pressure, and in any case it isn't deep enough to support frog and other amphibians to overwinter. Building a real pond doesn't necessarily need to be much more expensive or take that much more time. A deeper section is needed, but it doesn't have to be much wider or longer.

    thank you! lovely video and very encouraging. it would be nice to have some note in the description on where its ok to source plants...is it legal to take them from the wild, or is it advisable for someone trying to be nature-friendly? also maybe a warning about how to avoid netting becoming a hazard for birds or hedgehogs, etc.?

    You are such an inspiration. We went through a really tough patch last year, we lost our farmland and ended up renting a really rundown patch of land. Its nothing like what you have but creating the videos is spurring us on and keeping us going. One day, you never know but we might be in a position to have a farm again. We can only live in hope.

    Guys we really need to do better with coms here - what is an SLP? Why is it important? What is a nature emergency? Why should people care about it? How will declaring a nature emergency change the SLP - why should people care about that? How will this effect people’s lives in the next 1/2/3 years?
